Yes You Can!
Eating delicious, nutritious food is basic and necessary to living a long and active life in our modern world. I have developed information, a series of recipes that are simple and strategies fundamental for everyday life for the tentative cook, or young student. You will find these on The Basics page.
The Basics
As a professional educator in her 30th year of working in the public school system, I am able to learn so much every day from my students.
After 27 years specializing in English, I am in my second year as a Foods Educator. I am teaching students from 12 to 15 to cook! How exciting is that? And they love it, are great at it, and need to learn how. So many of their parents do not
cook, and this generation of young people is the first generation that will
die younger than their parent’s generation due to the processed and fast food they are eating and addicted to.
I have found my calling, and I know I am making a difference in the lives of my students and their families.
And, we are having so much fun doing it!
It is my goal to work toward incorporating the Slow Food philosophy into the work that I do with my students. Currently, the Nutritious Lunch Project that I started last year has been extremely successful and received a great deal of recognition.
So simple, and so much interest. That is really exciting!

WOW: Try a Tasting Party! Just buy one of each pear, or apple, or… you get the idea… smell it, taste it, feel it in your mouth; discuss which one you like better, and why. Know your palate. Fresh fragrant fruit is absolutely irresistible. Valerie does it in the fall with apples. I do it in the spring with twigs! Sappy, chewy, green twigs. There is nothing like a Tasting!
