GDPR and Privacy: Important Administrivia
Data protection and privacy are important for all in this cyber world. As the owner of A Canadian Foodie, I am responsible to provide a safe environment for my readers and work hard to do just that.
The European Union has outlined a General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and law for all who live in the European Union (EU). As many of my readers are from the EU, my site must be GDPR compliant.
What does this mean for my readers in or out of the EU?
I have written a Privacy Policy outlining the ways this site and any third party apps collect and store data.
Those of you who have subscribed to my site may read this post via email and always have the option of unsubscribing. There is an “unsubscribe” button at the end of any email you receive.
If you haven’t subscribed to my site and would like to, you may do so here. You will receive a verification message once you submit the subscription form. Your subscription will be active only once you respond to this verification message.
Cookies and Checkboxes
When you read my site from within the EU you should see a Consent Management Platform (CMP) pop-up from my ad network. You will have to change preferences or accept.
You should also see a “cookies’ notice at the top of the page (read more about cookies in the Privacy Policy).
When you leave a comment you are asked to check a box to consent to agree with the storage and handling of your data by this website (read more about this in the Privacy Policy).
